Farewell, brother

October 31, 2011
With Scott's passing on Saturday, Oct 29th, Bent Roses has been put into escrow. It will take some time. But we will emerge to sing and play again. The last time we saw him, Scott told us that he expected no less of us. We will honor his wishes.
Nothing more for now. We'll lick these very deep, personal wounds and let you know when Bent Roses pulls the Phoenix from the ashes routine.
Scott, We're With You!

A Big Thrill!

March 1, 2011
Bent Roses (Bill, Scott and Susan) had some great fun in mid-February. Our good friend, Andy Byron (see “links”) came to town from Boise, ID for a couple of gigs so we opened both shows and then Scott provided all the lead guitar work as part of Andy’s “Lost River Band.”
Wednesday, Feb 16th we opened the show at The Little Bear in Evergreen, CO. Andy then came on and did the first part of his show but then changed things up by inviting his friend, Michael Martin Murphey (see “links”) onstage for a couple of songs. Well it turned into 8 or 9 songs including all of MMM’s best-known songs including “Geronimo’s Cadillac,” “Carolina in the Pines” and “Wildfire.” Murph put on quite an exhibition and the crowd loved it.
Then on Friday, Feb 18th we reprised the whole thing at The Salida Café in Salida, CO. This time, however, all three Roses got to perform with MMM. What a pleasure and an honor. MMM has been a musical hero of ours since he was HUGE in the 70’s. The highlight for us was when Murph called Susan to the stage to sing harmony with him on, “Wildfire.” Susan thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and MMMs gracious invitation to share the stage. And the crowd that showed up to hear Andy “and friends” had no idea one of the friends would be Michael Martin Murphey. They gave him three standing ovations and Murph did several encores ending with a rousing, “whole-place-sing-along” of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.”
Our thanks to Michael; we are forever indebted . . . and we hope we get to do it again sometime!
Photos of the evening in Salida have been posted on the "Photos" page of this website.
We’re working on some new dates so check the schedule on this website or join our email list using the link at the bottom left of our homepage.

November 12, 2010
Thanks to everyone who came out for the concert at Fox and Hound ion Lone Tree on November 5th. What a blast! The guys in the band were totally stoked and really enjoyed seeing all of you and showing off their chops. Feedback from the crowd (not the PA System) indicated that you were all impressed with the players. Thanks to Daniel Jones (pedal steel), Ernie Martinez (dobro and mandolin), Keith Hughes (keyboards), Sandy Buckles (bass) and George Kourkouliotis (drums), Helen Highwater (vocals) and Andy Byron (vocals and a few of his own tunes) for a great performance. Special thanks to Rick Stockton for filling in for Scott at the last minute and for the use of his PA System.
You all helped raise $1,800 for Alternatives to Family Violence and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity.
No new show for awhile now while Scott gets his Medical Mystery Tour resolved. We will let you know when it will be time to party again!

The debut CD from Bent Roses, "little thoughts & Big Ideas," was released on November 20th, 2009. The CD contains 11 songs authored by Bill Roser and arranged by Scott Bennett. Susan Roser sings lead on 5 of the tracks. Scott produced, mixed and mastered the entire project and served as engineer on seven of the works. Rick Stockton was engineer on the remaining tracks. The work was done on a very part-time basis over the last three years. Check the "Music" page to access song snippets, lyrics and more.
